Do you ever feel like you should just have been tossed in the trash after you have made a mistake? Do you feel that your mistake or misunderstanding is so big that it can not be recovered from? I saw it today at Walmart from my own personal standpoint; it was my last divorce. I saw someone from my hometown, and she mentioned it, and the devil whispered in my ear, “Throw her away. She’s useless now”. I know in my heart and soul that is not true, but Satan whispers in that certain part of your mind, and it just goes places. It is so difficult after Satan has told us a lie to get it out of our head, but God always tells us the truth.
Psalms 103: 12. As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Why do we feel that it is necessary to throw ourselves away and think that it is the end for us after a mistake? Any and all mistakes that we make in this lifetime tend to lead to negative self talk, such as, “I am not good enough, someone else could have done that better, no one will ever love me, etc.”. This is not of God; this is how Satan gets us started thinking about ourselves in a way that leads to to low-self esteem. The Bible verse from John 10:10, “A thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I have come so that they may have life and have it in abundance,” comes to my mind. The thief is Satan, and he is making sure that he steals from our mind in this example. After any misunderstanding or mistake we also have the burden of proving ourselves to ourselves and others, but why? That is our pride. In James 4:6 the Bible says, “But he gives greater grace. Therefore he says: God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble.”
If we are humble in our errors and go to God, He can use us and our mistakes, but if we give way to pride, we are always trying to do things on our own.
Why does God keep us and still love us after our mistakes? Grace and Mercy, that is the very simple answer. If we are ready to listen, then God is ready to teach us from our mistake, so that we don’t repeat it. I have found personally that if I don’t learn the lesson that God is trying to teach, then most often I am back at that same mistake. One of the other things that come from mistakes is often a message to be shared. Many times we are too ashamed to share it, but this is where wonderful testimonies come from. God loves us to share our story with others in hopes that it encourages or helps them in some way. If God has asked you to share your testimony with someone or a group of people, don’t be embarrassed because God is going to to use that for good. There is no mistake or misunderstanding too big for us to take to God that He can’t fix, or that He doesn’t want to fix.
James 1:5 Now if any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God- who gives to all generously and ungrudingly -and it will be given to him.
Ephesians 2: 4-6. But God, who is rich in mercy, because of his great love that he had for us, made us alive with Christ even though we were dead in trespasses. You are saved by grace! He also raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavens in Christ Jesus.
